When blogging I have had the feeling that I am shouting in a void that has sound proof walls – not even getting my own echo back. My mom, who is a writer, says that’s what writing books feels like. However, when you are writing in a blog, you are supposed to feel like you are building a community, right? People are supposed to comment and respond to your posts. So, here are some tips that might help you get your posts read. They may not work right away – but if you do them all, you will see results in the next couple of months:
1. Blog REGULARLY.
I cannot stress how important it is to blog on some kind of schedule, whether it’s every day or once a month, you need to blog regularly. It’s also good to let your readers know that you are on some kind of schedule, and if you will have to be changing your schedule so that they can change with you. See an example of this here.
2. Put Something of Yourself in Your Posts
Don’t be a robot. I cannot tell you how long I wrote posts like a robot (actually, I can, but it’s embarrassing). I’ll give you some examples of does and don’t later, but feel free to check out my sites for examples of a do post (see, someone even commented on that one!) and a don’t post (ugh… that one sounds like an advertisement *blush*)
3. Make your headline interesting
There are a million and one ways to make your headline interesting. I could do posts and posts on it. However, a lot of smarter people have already done that… so I’m going to link to their posts since I learned from them anyway:

4. Turn on your comments function
If you want to talk to people, you have to let them talk back. Pretty basic, but something not everyone has done. If for some reason you don’t want people to comment, have a post or a page explaining why. One of the main things that people like about blogs is that they can comment. If you want to deny them that, you have to tell them why.
5. Assume Your Audience is at least as smart as you.
They found you, right? If they like you and your blog, then they are probably similar people to you and they don’t appreciate being talked down to (unless you do… then I guess you can talk down to them, but that’d be a pretty small niche group and a kind I haven’t encountered. If you encounter that sort of person, let me know).
